Wanting to start a home skincare routine but not sure where to start? It can be very flustering snd stressful when looking around at all the skincare products there are and not knowing what to get. For beginners, it is always recommended to start off with a 3-step routine, a cleanser, a moisturizer, and an SPF. As you get more consistent with washing and moisturizing, it is great to start adding more treatments as you learn more, including toners, serums, antioxidants, and more.
The very first step in learning how to start a great skincare routine is determining your skin type and needs. Different skin types have different needs. Dry skin types might need more hydration and moisturizing, where people with oily skin might need more of a lightmeight moisturizer. A great way to determine what your skin might be like is taking a look at it throughout the day. Do you wash your skin and notice immediate dryness on your face? Do you get flakes after cleansing in the morning? Is your skin oily and shiny by lunchtime? These are some questions to determine your skin type.
Skin types:
Normal skin – Does not suffer from much oiliness or dryness to the skin
Combination skin – Cheek areas are usually normal or dry, but T-zone gets oily
Oily skin – skin that is shiny due to overproduction of oil
Dry skin – skin that is dry and flakey areas that feel very tight on your face
Sensitive skin – skin that is easily red and irritated when applying products, can be painful to the touch
There are many different types of facials available, so it is important to choose one that is right for your skin type. If you are not sure what type of facial you need, you just give me a call: 815.258.6499
